India AgriCultural Tour 2010

Date: November 16, 2010- December 10, 2010

Places to be visited: Delhi, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Varanasi, Agra, Jaipur, Goa, Coimbatore, Ooty, Mysore, Bangalore, Hydererabad.

Three-week long India Agricultural Tour 2010 is a unique educational/ business opportunity for Canadian farmers, agrologists, agri-businesses and other industry stakeholders. The agtour will include visits to national and regional ag-institutions, markets, processing facilities and local farms along with the major tourists’ places. There may be opportunities for business meetings with trade partners or industry stakeholders. Our India Agricultural Tour 2009 was great success!!

India Eco Adventures is an emerging tour organizer located in the heart of India. Agricultural tour to India is a joint intiative by Pramod Kumar, an Alberta Agrologist, and India Eco Adventures based in central India. The initiative brings up annual agricultural tour of this incredible and culturally diverse Asian sub-continent. Our previous tour were fantastic and we are going to take it to next level and let you have a wonderful and memorable experience.

We will be offering several tour packages soon, tailord to your specific interest. We also welcome enquiries for a customized tour for a smaller group.

Our 2010 tour will be escorted by Pramod Kumar, who is based out of Calgary, Alberta. Our tour is well balanced between glimpses of agriculture and culture of India; and a great learning opportunity for people interested to travel India!

Our previous participants have found the tour very interesting and we hope that every future tour will be even better, full of excitement and inclusive of several opportunities that is very rare with many commercial tour operators.

Wet fields- a huge concern from land to markets

Continuous excessive rains left prairie farmers out of seeding their crops almost for three weeks of critical seeding window. This is certainly frustrating for majority of Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba farmers, who could not accomplish their seeding goals. Another foreseeable trouble is dealing with excessive soil moisture, poor crop competition under persistent weed pressure. Indemnity paid out of farmers’ pooled unseeded acre insurance may not be enough. The management of crops already seeded is going to be challenging.

The chaos in the industry is clearly visible from farmers returning seeds back to retailers, worried crop input businesses and falling share prices of major industry stakeholders. Extension of seeding deadlines by crop insurance program helped little due to even wetter conditions. Now, when the farmers gave up all their hope of seeding, a large fraction of arable land remained unseeded, posing challenges to the governments paying out large sum of indemnity to the farmers and threatening export markets.

Come out and enjoy the innovation in farming industry! I will be out there to explore new innovation showcase as well as introduction to new agricultural products including farm equipments, farm chemicals, seed and new varieties of crops. Ofcourse, there will be lots of new services to farm businesses. I was very much impressed with the technologies and innovation that the industry achieved in the previous years and look forward to something entirely new this year!! The parade of antique farm vehicles was equally impressing!! AgriClaim look forward to network with farmers, agrologists and farm businesses visiting from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
